I'm Kelly, the nurse behind Shine On RN — a space for nurses who want careers that support their lives, not consume them.

I created Shine On RN after navigating my own winding path through bedside nursing, research, education, and leadership. Along the way, I realized something important:

There isn't one "right" nursing career. There's the right path for you.

My Career Didn't Follow a Straight Line

Like many nurses, I started my career believing there was one "right" nursing job. I just had to find it.

Over the years, I worked in several different roles, including TCU, inpatient mental health, neuro/trauma, research, and education. Each experience taught me something new about what I enjoyed, what challenged me, and what I wanted my career to look like.

During the COVID pandemic, I decided to pursue an MBA. I didn't have every detail of my future mapped out. I simply wanted to create more opportunities and better understand where my skills could take me.

That decision changed how I viewed my career.

Instead of asking, "What's the right nursing job?" I started asking, "What kind of career fits my strengths, goals, and the life I want to build?"

That mindset has guided every career decision since—and it's the same perspective I hope to share through Shine On RN.
